Role Overview

Apply senior-level book editing expertise to improve diverse manuscripts and provide high-quality input that helps train next-generation AI systems. This remote contract role is suited to accomplished editors with published-book experience, particularly those who have worked on bestselling or award-winning titles.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and enhance manuscripts for clarity, narrative structure, voice, and market alignment.
• Provide detailed editorial feedback, advanced line editing, copyediting, and content restructuring.
• Identify gaps and inconsistencies involving plot, character development, and thematic continuity.
• Create editorial guidelines and best practices that support AI model development.
• Draft, revise, and polish constructive, actionable editorial commentary that meets high industry standards.
• Communicate edits and recommendations through written and verbal collaboration with project stakeholders.
• Review and refine AI-generated editorial work for accuracy, quality, and style.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience editing published books for recognized publishing houses or prominent authors.
• Expertise in manuscript editing, line editing, copyediting, editorial feedback, narrative-structure analysis, content restructuring, and editorial guidelines.
• Exceptional command of English grammar and literary style.
• Ability to provide nuanced editorial feedback across genres and formats.
• Editorial leadership on New York Times bestsellers or award-winning titles is a significant advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaboration skills, and comfort working remotely in a technology-enabled environment.
• Ability to adapt to evolving project needs.

Work Terms

• Remote, independent contractor engagement.
• US-based contributors are preferred; highly qualified professionals in other locations will also be considered.
• No prior AI experience is required.

Compensation

$80 to $120 per hour.
